We have already published an article regarding Intel’s initial line of Sandy Bridge-E processors, due in Q4 2011 – the Core i7-3960X Extreme Edition, Core i7-3930K and Core i7-3820 – but thanks to another leak shared by Donanim Haber, we have a timeline for Intel’s CPU launches well into Q3 2012.

Before we get to the flagship Sandy Bridge-E CPUs, it’s interesting to see that Intel is still working on a current-generation replacement for their existing consumer-focused flagship Sandy Bridge CPU – the Core i7-2600K. If the Q3 launch is correct, we should be seeing such a CPU, rumoured to be the Core i7-2800K, before the end of September (a nice welcome gift for AMD’s Bulldozer launch). Otherwise, the consumer line-up is set to remain largely unchanged until Intel’s 22nm die-shrink occurs with the launch of Ivy Bridge, which now appears to be set for launch in either March or April 2012 (previous hopes were very early Q1 2012).
Moving back to the enthusiast-oriented Sandy Bridge-E platform with its LGA 2011 socket, we see that Intel is still looking to hit the market before the end of 2011 with their Core i7-3960X Extreme Edition, Core i7-3930K, and Core i7-3820 (for details on these three CPUs, head over here). As for new information, this roadmap shows that the initial Sandy Bridge-E line-up is set to see some upgrades in Q2 of 2012 with the Core i7-3980X Extreme Edition taking the performance crown from the 3960X as well as replacements for both of the other two launch CPUs.
With Ivy Bridge not set to see the light of day until Q2 2012, it is likely that Intel’s currently-available Sandy Bridge platform will continue to be the consumer platform of choice as Sandy Bridge-E will come in at much higher enthusiast-oriented prices.
