In the last 6 months Sapphire has returned to the motherboard arena with a whole slew of motherboards for both Intel and AMD platforms. Today we have their enthusiast offering for those jumping on board of the Intel Sandy Bridge-E platform with the LGA 2011 socket and X79 chipset – the PURE Black X79N. Let’s take a look!

With CES 2012 hitting its stride we have more motherboard news to bring you today! Remember those Z77 motherboards from GIGABYTE that we mentioned yesterday? Well, the folks over at VR-Zone have a great preview of them so be sure to check it out. Also from GIGABYTE we have a handful of new motherboard features – 3D Power Design, 3D BIOS (we took a look at this a couple of months ago) and a handful of other niceties including Bluetooth 4.0, among other things. For more on these, check out the official GIGABYTE press release.

As for bigger news, we now have a competitor to EVGA’s upcoming dual-LGA 2011 socketed SR-X motherboard courtesy of ASUS – the Z9PE-D8 WS. This motherboard may not be quite as feature rich as EVGA’s offering, but it still offers  dual-LGA 2011 sockets, a total of 8 quad-channel DDR3 DIMM slots, seven physical PCIe 3.0 x16 slots (wired to x16/x8/x16/x8/x16/x8/x16), and a handful of other features. For more on the Z9PE-D WS, check out the VR-Zone preview.
